Museum Tours and Visits

General Admission is free

PLEASE NOTE:

We are currently only accepting reservations for the period of April 1st to May 10th, 2023.

We regret to inform you that the March dates are currently booked. Thank you for your understanding.

We are delighted that you want to visit the African American Museum of Southern Arizona.  The museum is available for self-guided visits and AAMSAZ guided tours.

  • Self-guided visits: You lead your group independently; please check-in when you arrive. An AAMSAZ volunteer will greet your group and go over museum guidelines as needed. Groups under 18 years of age must have 1 adult per every 10 youth.
  • Guided tours: We offer a 50 minute interactive tour with an AAMSAZ educator. Large groups will be split into groups of 10 people. Groups under 18 years of age must have 1 adult per every 10 youth. NOTE: PreK-12th grade groups of 30+ students MUST be guided by an AAMSAZ volunteer in the museum.

All visitors—even those not requesting a guided tour—should fill out the request form below or contact us at least two weeks before the requested date so that we can prepare for your visit. You will receive a confirmation and further details about your visit via the email address you provide.

We host many visitors throughout the week. Having advance reservations helps to avoid overcrowding and ensures safer accommodations for visitors and staff.

Self-guided visits for up to 12 people can be available with at least one week’s notice. Guided tours are led by AAMSAZ volunteers with educational opportunities that can be customized to fit the ages and interests of the group. Guided tours take approximately one hour. A ratio of 1 adult for every 10 children is required for PreK-12 student tours.

Visitors and tours are welcomed Wednesday – Saturday, 10 am-4:00 pm

The Museum is closed on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and during University of Arizona observed holidays and closures.

Please request visits at least two weeks in advance.

To request a tour with shorter than a two-week notice, please contact Jenn Bates about availability.  For same day or next day tour requests, please understand that we may not be able to accommodate the request due to already booked tours.
